Frequently Asked Questions

Curtains

Q: How do you charge?

A: We charge per metre of fabric and based on what needs cleaning off the curtains. Only require a freshen up to remove dust? Enjoy our cheapest option with prices starting from $12 per metre. Pricing varies for lined vs blockout type curtains, depending on the size and the extent of any mould / staining / animal hair.

Q: Will there be any lingering smell?

A: Sometimes following mould / stain removal there is a faint smell of bleach on curtain and blind fabric. This happens because some fabrics hold smell for longer than others. Generally this odour goes within a few days.

Q: How long is drying?

A: Curtains and blinds are generally dry the same day. Allow 2-3 hours on a warm day in summer and 5-6 hours in winter. Open windows, heaters and dehumidifiers help to speed up this process.

Q: Will my curtains lose colour in the treatment process?

A: Many fabrics these days are polyester and there is no issue with colour-loss. Natural fibres (such as silk, cotton, linen) are generally not colourfast. If you have mould or staining on these types of curtains a full treatment is one option, where your curtains are completely treated and end up a shade or two lighter in colour. Colourfast tests are undertaken on all jobs. If only the linings are mouldy then the usual cleaning process works fine.

Q: Are there any common complications with older curtains?

A: Older thermal curtains can begin to lose their thermal backing in the cleaning process. This leaves the underside of the fabric showing which is generally a dark grey / black colour. Thermal curtains can sometimes be scratched in the wear and tear of home life and if the curtains are mouldy these scratches are sometimes not evident until after cleaning is completed. Scratches reveal the dark underside of the curtain fabric and can be thought to be dirty marks on otherwise clean curtains.

Q: Do you provide any curtain repair services?

A: We are able to do minor repair work such as fixing a drooping hemline or replacing hooks and glides. We are able to recommend tradespeople where more extensive repair work is required.

Q: Are there times when curtains cannot be cleaned onsite?

A: Yes - when the mould is very high up on the fabric or when the fabric will lose colour, offsite cleaning is the best option. Turnaround in these cases is generally 3-4 days and temporary curtains can be supplied. If re-delivery & re-hang is required, fees will apply.

Blinds

Q: What kinds of blinds do you clean onsite?

A: We can do all types of blinds onsite where they are hanging (venetian, roman, roller, austrian, vertical). Offsite we can just do roman blinds.

Q: Are there any complications with blinds?

A: Roman blinds are the most tricky blinds to clean as they are sometimes not colourfast. If you have mould or staining on these types of blinds a full treatment is one option, where your curtains are completely treated and end up a shade or two lighter in colour. Colourfast tests are undertaken on all jobs.

Q: How are blinds charged?

A: This depends on the type of blind, the extent of any mould / staining, their sizes, etc. Venetian blinds, for example, start from $12/m2. Roman blinds have a minimum charge of $40 per blind.

Q: Do you provide any blind repair services?

A: We are able to replace strings and eyes on roman blinds and do full re-stringing, if required. Repair work where there is a mechanism (eg in venetians) is beyond our expertise unfortunately.

Carpets

Q: How thorough is your carpet cleaning process?

A: We use a pre-spray to loosen dirt and grime trapped within carpet fibres which provides superior extraction ability and ensures a more effective steam cleaning process .

Q: How long do carpets take to dry?

A: Allow 2-3 hours in summer and 5-6 hours in winter if there are dehumidifiers and heaters running. A closed up, cold house can take a day or two to dry.

Q: Do we need to move furniture?

A: Small furniture and items should be lifted out of the way to allow us to clean the main walking areas. If you would like larger furniture moved we are able to do this but the cheaper option is for clients to move items themselves.

Q: What does it cost?

A: A steam clean of a small-medium three bedroom house is $170. This includes the bedrooms, a small hallway and a standard-sized lounge. Stain removal is extra so please advise of any stains needing attention when you make your booking. Other spaces such as a dining area, office and stairs are extra so please also enquire about the charges for these when booking.

Q: Do all stains come out?

A: Some stains are very difficult or impossible to remove. When staining occurs it is best to only use water on it initially and then to call in professionals. Attempts to treat the stain yourself can cause the stain to set. Please inform us at the time of booking if you have attempted to remove the stain yourself. We offer a guarantee to refund your money for stain treatment if another company can remove a stain we cannot.

Q: Do you clean rugs as well?

A: Yes

“Thank you for the job you completed at our home. The curtains, carpets, lounge and dining chairs all look and smell very fresh and clean. The very best thing was being able to have the curtains cleaned while still hanging!”
